The Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is in the northern and north western part of Kathmandu. The Shivapuri Hill is the one of the most important watershed area of the Kathmandu valley and provides most of the valley’s water needs. For hiking enthusiasts who want to travel in Nepal and cannot go out of the valley for longer treks, this area is an ideal location for a half day to one day hiking.

It covers an area of 159 sq. km and is a true representation of the mid hills. While there are 13 trekking routes inside the reserve itself, the most popular is the trekking route to Helambu.
